The Abra alba - Mysella bidentata community is the most diverse and dens macrobenthic community on the Belgian Continental Shelf. Abra alba and Spisula subtruncata are two characteristic bivalves of this community, also the 'riff' buiding polychaete, Lanice conchilega, which has an important habitat-structuring function. Therefore the community and the population-dynamics of this species will be followed in time and space.
