My research project aims to analyse the African rain forests diversity at different spatial (continental, regional, local) and temporal scales (contemporary and historical factors). A first project compared the alpha diversity of the African rain forests to that of the Amazonian rain forests taking climatic differences into account. On-going research investigates diversity in a phylogenetic perspective. Indeed, investigating the phylogenetic structure of communities provides new tools to understand the historical and ecological factors shaping species assemblages.
