Located in the South-West of Morocco, Argan stands are placed under the status of the Man and Biosphere Reserve since December 1998. However, these ecosystems suffer from an increasing human pressure following human population growth. Due to the intricate mixture of all the components of the rural space, traditional forest management failed to succeed in slowing down stand and site degradation. The overall objective of this project is thus to develop an integrated management approach of the rural space. The specific objectives of the research are to analyse the current dynamics of uses and practices together with their determining factors, to build a static and dynamic typology of ecosystems, to assess argan stand dynamics and potentialities, as well as to build and evaluate management scenarios.
