Abstract

All afforestation requires continuous management and investments during the first 15 to 30 years. For each priced technical programme, the main is to optimise the cost to productivity ratio. Each model is divided in 6 main stages : identifying the constraints before planting the trees and assessing the site : cleaning the site of competitive vegetation and enhancing or working the soil : choosing the planting material (genetic qualities, quality criteria, conditioning) and planting the trees : protections against animals (game, rodents) : cleaning the vegetation : selecting choice trees, form pruning, silvicultural pruning and eventually lopping.
