The research project follows the biotic and abiotic changes due to large-scale nature development measures taken in the integral coastal nature reserve the Ijzermonding during a period of three years. In a multidisciplinary enrivonment a global area covering monitoring and a detailed transect monitoring is performed, following sedimentation and erosion processes, soil characteristics, topography, ground water quality and fluctuations, flora and vegetation, terrestrial arthropod fauna, avifauna and sub- and intertidal macrobenthos. All will be integrated in an ecocyqtem approach.
