Abstract

This research aims at an essessment of the impact of regional spatial processes on the structure and composition of local plant communities. It will try to develop a conceptual model on the community level (metacommunities). A better understanding of the dynamics of plant communities is essential for affores- tation as stated by the Structure plan for Flanders since it provides the prediction of biodiversity in newly planned forests. It also allows to assess the nature conservation value of new forests.
