Abstract

The project aims at enhancing the knowledge base required to fine-tune integrated soil fertility management strategies to the farmer's resource endowments and the prevailing socio-economic and biophysical environment. The work hence is divided into a thorough characterization of the socio-economic and bio-physical environment, a research component aiming at unraveling the soil related mechanisms responsible for the large spatial variability of a framework for interaction between the stakeholders, the adaptation and evaluation of improved farming systems, the development of decision aids and a contribution to capacity building related to ISFM strategies at the local organisations.
