Abstract
Development of a "biodiversity reference centre" devoted to the amphipod crustaceans of the Southern Ocean. The reference centre will be comprised of: - specialized databases recording and organizing the widely scattered information on taxonomy,distribution, ecological and biological characteristics and bibliography. -operational reference collections. -a world-wide network of contributing specialists (the "Antarctic Amphipodologist Network") in charge of the revision of the Antarctic amphipod fauna, the synthesis of its geographic and bathymetric distribution and bio-ecological traits and the preparation of new conventional and computer-assisted identification tools.
