The African Biodiversity Information Centre (ABIC) aims to specifically address the set of obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity relating to repatriation of information and assistance of developing countries. ABIC encourages and assists with the mining and repatriation of biodiversity information from the RMCA holdings to institutions in the countries of origin. It also establishes longer-term co-operation with those institutions in order to continue the technical and scientific assistance with the use and interpretation of the data afterwards, and to provide specialised training.
