Abstract

In an effort to determine the impact of habitat fragmentation on genetic diversity in natural populations, we explore the relationship between genetic parameters and habitat size and isolation in several zooplankton species. In addition, we carry out a meta-analysis on a large existing data set incorporating >1000 natural populations of 65 ecologically different taxa. We will also explore the potential conflict between local and regional genetic diversity in zooplankton.
