Abstract

The project aims to evaluate bacterial phylogeny based on 16S rDNA sequencing by comparison with the phylogeny revealed by gene sequences of recA, atpD, GInAn GyrA etc. A second objective concerns the role of transposable elements in bacterial evolution. The variability of the mobile element MIC231 in several members of the Bacillus cereus complex will be studied as a model.
