The research project consists of three major parts:
(1) the development of a documented database concerning non-
indigenous fish species in Flanders;
(2) the evaluation of the distribution of the topmouth gudgeon,
a recently very successful non-indigenous fis species in
Flanders. The general distribution of the species in
Flanders, as well as the detailed distribution in the
Demer basin, will be studied;
(3) a genetic and morphological characterisation of the topmouth
gudgeon populations in Flanders will be made.
