Microorganisms in soil and water live in associations which are of utmost importance for the clean-up of diverse undesired contaminants. The research project will study the diversity of bacteria able to degrade the chlorinated aromatic herbicides diuron and chloropropham, as well as the diversity and horizontal dissemination of the genes responsible for the degradation of these and related environmental contaminants.
