Abstract

Quantitative reseach of nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems often neglects the systematic spatial variability in forest stands. This research therefore aims at understanding this variability by developing a spatially explicit hydrological forest model. This smodel can be a tool for e.g. ameliorating the use of throughfall measurements in policy oriented scientific research concerning atmospheric nutrient depositions.
