Abstract
By means of four north-south transsects, the basin development at the northern edge of the Midlands Microcaton will be reconstructed from the Middle-Orovician to the Silurian. Time-horizons (thin biozones or marker beds) in the transects will be linked and compared for changes in sedimentology, subsidence and palaeo-ecology from east to west.
