Genomic characterization of a large number of strains belonging to the industrially and clinically important 'Bacillus subtilis'-group via MLST, will provide genomic and phylogenetic information and will possibly result in the description of novel species. Further, it will aid in the description of a novel bacterial species concept and will allow development of a fast detection method based on 'real-time'-PCR.
