Abstract
The project aims at - the optimisation of matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for the rapid identification of bacteria. Both quantitative and qualitative aspects (pattern analysis using bioinforamtics vs characterisation of species specific peaks) will be studied. - the application of MALDI-TOF MS to study the epidemiological reservoirs and biodiversity of Burkholderia cepacia-like bacteria.
