Abstract

We test hypotheses concerning postulated influences of colony size on the social structure and reproductive conflicts in ants. First we want to determine possible limiting factors of colony size through a morphological study of the reproductive system of queens. In a behavioural study we will compare the degree of queen-worker conflict and worker efficiency between species with different colony sizes.
