Abstract

We aim to determine the relative impact of local and regional processes on the structure of local macro-invertebrate communities. Studies are carried out in a pond complex with more than 30 interconnected ponds. Field studies are carried out to characterize the communities of invertebrates and quantify dispersal among ponds. Field and loboratory experiments are conducted to test hypotheses on why specific taxa do or do not occur in certain ponds. In this analysis, much attention will be paid to predator-prey interactions.
