The general study (AMIS) should result in a large database and a General Ecosystem Model of the Scheldt Estuary. the vegetation study should result in a conceptual structural model which can predict the vegetation development which can be expected under different water management regimes. These prediction will further serve as input to the General Ecosystem Model in order to be able to estimate the impact of macrophytic vegetation on the functioning of the estuarine ecosystem.
