This research project aims at establishing new insights in the
taxonomy, ecology and zoogeography of marine ostracods from the
Indo-Pacific realm. The distribution of ostracods on a carbonate
platform is largely determined by microfacies properties. The
occurence of interstitial ostracods, however, is influenced by
the physical constraints of the sediment. Emphasis will also
be on the relationship between bio- and thanatocoenoses, and
on geographical and climatological factors influencing
faunistical distribution.
