Sagalassos is a hellenistic-roman site in Southwest Turkey. The research of the past and recent vegetation is part of in the interdisciplinary Belgian project, which aims to reconstruct the physical environment of Sagalassos. Therefore, palynological research on travertine rock, clay sediments and peat will be carried out. The palaeopalynological data will be calibrated by research on modern pollen rain in the area. On the basis of this information, a detailed picture of the natural vegetation and of the vegetation in the past, when the city was flourishing, will be given.
