Abstract

We aim to estimate the relative importance of local and regional processes in determining the community structure of zooplankton, macro-invertebrates and fish in a set of interconnected, shallow, eutrofied ponds. In addition to field observations on species composition and dispersal rates through overflows, we will also pay a lot of attention to experimental tests of mechanistic hypotheses and to genetic analyses.
