This research project aims at establishing new insights in the
taxonomy and distribution of European freshwater ostracods.
The project consists of the following topics: (1) a detailed
analysis and comparative morphology of the characters used;
(2) clarification of taxonomical problems regarding genera and
species; (3) redescriptions and differential diagnoses of
problematic species with the help of the type-material;
(4) a biogeographical analysis of the taxa considered, with
special emphasis on subterranean faunal elements.
