The project consists in scientific and financial support for NIAPP (National Institute for Agricultural Planning and Projec- tion). The main specific objectives are : a) to develop a policy instrument at the disposal of decision makers in order to scientifically support important decisions concerning land use, land use planning and agricultural develop- ment; b) advise farmers in the various agro-ecologically zones on improved land use options that are economically feasible, ecolo- gically sound and socially acceptable; c) expose Vietnamese scientists to modern methods of soil survey and land evaluation and foster their interaction with the international scientific communicty.
