We test hypothesis concerning the influence of colony size and kaste dimorphism on social structure and reproductive conflicts in ants. We can enhance intracolonial conflicts through experimental manipulation and compare the responses to reproducing nestmates of different castes. We compare species with pronounced discrepancies in kaste dimorphism and colony sizes and variable populations within species.
