Since 1995, the Laboratory of Grassland Ecology (UCL) is responsible
for the collection and conservation of wild flowers and little fruit
shrubs' local ecotypes. A local ecotype is a subgroup within a species
genetically adapted to particular ecological conditions. The program
aims to create a commercial structure specialised in the production and
sale of certified seeds of local origin in order cover the growing
market demand for environmentally-friendly products to perform diverse
revegetation works.
