The compost management project focusses on two subjects: 1) compost hygiene: Eradication of Salmonella choloraesius, Ralstonia Solanacearum, Escherichia coli and Tobacco Mosaic Virus is investigated and modelled during a simulated compost proces (heating experiment); 2) disease suppressiveness of compost. The disease suppressive effect of composts of different origine is investigated in the bio-assay Spathiphyllum - Cylindrocladium spathiphylli. It is investigated if these compost can induce systemic resistance in the plant and the factors responsible for this effect are being identified.
