Abstract

Focus lies on the extraction of biophysical and structural infor- mation of coniferous forest stands from hyperspectral images taken from airborne and satellite platforms. In the first place this will be done by research on the textural information in the hyperspectral images. Possible the bi-directional effect of the multi-angular data from the CHRIS sensor on board of the PROBA satellite will be investigated. Additionally a BTF will be created which describes canopy texture on the image as a function of illumination and viewing direction. If temporal CHRIS data will be available, research will be performed on detection of changes herein. The selected coniferous forest stands are situated in the Pijnven Forest, Northern Belgium and the extrac- ted results will be verified by ground data collected from those stands.
