Abstract
Assemblages of brackish and marine diatoms have been examined from Upper-Paleocene and Lower Eocene strata of the Dieppe-Hampshire, Belgium, Denmark and Tethys Basins. The diatoms observed are preserved in pyrite and in (celesto-)barite. They allow correlations of the lithostratigraphic units of the different basins studied.
