Abstract

This project aims to stimulate the morphological research at the Laboratory of Plant Systematics. Molecular systematics yields a huge amount of phylogenetic information. In New Evolutionary Morphology (NEM, Endress et al. 2000) emphasis is on the feedback of these molecular data on the interpetation of morphological characters. The research strategy of NEM is applied on 3 disciplines: (1) palynology, (2) carpology and seeed anatomy, and (3) flower ontogeny. We concentrate the sub-studies on Rubiaceae (1+2) and Ericales (3).
