In the context of mapping of disease resistance genes, the aim of this project is to evaluate different methods of genetic analysis for the identification of disease resistance loci in livestock. Traits related to disease resistance (bacterial counts, scales of symptoms, ...) have peculiar statistical patterns. These peculiarities are not taken into account in the extant methods of genetic analysis. In a first step, our objective is to develop a simulation model to mimick these traits. In a second step, we will use this model to benchmark different methods of QTL analyses and to develop the optimal strategy of genetic analysis for disease resistance traits.
