Non-point source pollution from agriculture presents a major problem in meeting environmental protection goals. Many policies to control such pollution couple input use restrictions on a subset of polluting inputs with subsidies for pollution abatement. The project's objective is to analyse the impacts of such programs on the production decisions of agricultural producers in the presence of revenue uncertainty and risk aversion. Input choices will not only be affected by direct subsitution effects between restricted and unrestricted inputs, but also by the use of subsidies. The approach will combine a theoretical analysis with a simulation study based on Belgian data.
