This project combines molecular genetics, socio-economics and geostatistics to address the conservation of sheep and goat biodiversity in European marginal areas. Socio-economic factors are addressed to ensure the in situ conservation of breeds. A map of development perspectives will be produced and areas where sustainable conservation of valuable populations could succeed will be identified. Appropriate conservation actions will be suggested.
