Predictive models are developed for river ecosystem management. Data from Flemish ecological and hydrological databases are used as well as data obtained from monitoring of the Zwalm and Dender River Basin. Evolutionary algorithms are linked with other modeling techniques (Artificial Neural Networks, classification trees, ) for the development of a spatio-temporal model predicting macroinvertebrates based on a limited number of environmental variables.
