Bioavailability and toxicity of copper towards the fresh water invertebrate Daphnia magna Straus will be related to cellular and physiological processes. This will lead to the development of a model that can predict short and long term adverse effects of copper based on phisical chemical water characteristics. This model will be of great use in ecologically relevant risk assessment and criteria setting for aquatic ecosystems.
