Based on physical-chemical, biological as well as structural and morphological data, an integrated ecological assessment and management system for watercourses will be elaborated. Fuzzy logica will be used as main inference technique, but also artificial neural networks and geographical information systems will be included in the study. Initially, the Zwalm river basin will be used as a study site, but later on also the Dender and the Schelde will be included in the research.
