Abstract
Due to excavation activities for sand in Dessel (Belgium) the river Voorste Nete has been repositioned over a distance of 2 km. This repositioning was incorporated in the environmental assessment of the project as a mitigation for the negative effects. This project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this repositioning on a short term and medium term range. Beside the landscape and river morphology also the macro-invertebrates and fishes are monitored.
