Inland fisheries is a innate (co-)user and (co-)manager of public waters in Flanders. The aim of the study is to create a base and foundation for the integration of co-management in the actions of the Fishery committees in the provinces. The possibilities of a region-defined demarcation of functional units in co-management are being investigated. The overall framework including targets and tasks, the organisation and working modalities well be established. The conditions for legitimisation for angling associations and the procedure for legitimisation are defined. The Fishery committees in the provinces are assisted in starting up co-management and one pilot project in every province is initiated and supervised. The instrument necessary for the training and orientation of co-managers in public fisheries are developed. A proposition for legal integration will be prepared.
