A specific convention has been signed between the Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGDC) and the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences. The objectives of this convention are to improve knowledge on biodiversity and reach a better implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity in developing countries. The following activities are being undertaken: partnering role for the Clearing-House Mechanism,
capacity building in taxonomic research, valorisation of the archives and collections of RBINS originating from developing countries, public awareness activities in partner countries, scientific support to DGDC for all items that concern biodiversity.
