Abstract

It is intended to find a phylogeographic structure in some forest rodent species to characterise and compare their postglacial recolonisation patterns in Europe. The role of the Mediterranean peninsulas as glacial refuges will be illustrated as well as their present importance as genetic biodiversity reservoirs. This study will be carried out using mtDNA sequencing of the cytochromeb gene and of the D-loop.
