The impacts of forest tree species on biogeochemical cycling, soil quality, microbial activities and bacterial diversity is studied at plot, catchment and regional scales. The combination of studies allows the measurement of impacts without the interference of other variables (history, geology) and the generalisation to other ecological conditions.
