Abstract
This project aims to elucidate character transformations and evolutionary trends in flowering plants. Besides systematic wood anatomy of Malighiales and Ericales, special attention is paid to vestured pits. As for the leaf anatomical research, mineral inclusions, secretory cavities, and aluminium accumu- lation are studied. Ecological and functional aspects of these features are also considered.
