We test hypotheses concerning postulated influences of colony
size on the social structure and reproductive conflicts in ants.
First we want to determine possible limiting factors of colony
size through a morphological study of the reproductive system
of queens. In a behavioural study we will compare the degree of
queen-worker conflict and worker efficiency between species
with different colony sizes.
